Thanks

📢 Feature Update: Orphan Backups Retain (JetBackup v5.4.2)
We are pleased to announce that Orphan Backups Retain has been added starting in JetBackup v5.4.2!

🔍 What’s New?Previously, when an account was removed or terminated (orphaned), managing its remaining snapshots relied solely on the "Delete orphan backups older than" (TTL) setting.

With the new Orphan Backups Retain setting, you can now specify the exact number of backups to keep for orphaned accounts. On the next cleanup cycle (~6 hours), JetBackup will immediately trim down the backups to your configured retain limit—keeping only the most recent snapshots and marking the excess for deletion, regardless of their age.

⚙ How It Works

  • Retain & TTL Work Together: The Retain setting trims excess backups immediately upon account orphan status, while TTL continues to apply to the remaining retained backups until they reach their configured age limit.
  • Per-Destination & Content Grouping: Retain limits are applied per storage destination and per backup content configuration (e.g., full account vs. database/email only).
  • Safety & Defaults: The feature defaults to 1 snapshot retained. Setting the retain limit to 0 will trigger a safety prompt in the UI before applying. Locked snapshots are protected and will not count against your retain limit.

Thank You,
The JetBackup Team

That would be super convinient as there is no need to keep more than 1 orphan backups for a single account.
