The ability to restore a cPanel account to a different directory

There are times where a client needs to restore all emails to their account which are between certain dates or looking for a certain file you need to research without having to overwrite the target. I opened a support ticket on this and was told it was not possible to restore to a specified target directory and it can only be restored to the original cPanel directory which was backed up.

Google search states it is possible, but since support is saying it is not possible, if this is possible please provide instructions, if not can it be added?
