Account Filters behavior with OR/AND logic causing unexpected backups in JetBackup 5

Hello JetBackup Support Team,

I hope you are doing well.

I am contacting you regarding an issue we are experiencing with Account Filters in JetBackup 5, specifically related to how OR and AND logic behaves when combining multiple filters.

We have the following setup:

- A general backup job (2-day retention) for all accounts

- A separate backup job (30-day retention) for a specific account (premium client)

We are using Account Filters to control which accounts are included in the general backup job.

Filters Configuration General Backup Job

We created two filters:

- Filter A: Exclude suspended accounts (default filter)

- Filter B: Exclude a specific account Premium (active, not suspended)

When combining both filters with OR:

- Suspended accounts were unexpectedly included in the backup

- The specific account was also not excluded

- This resulted in incorrect backups being generated

Using AND

When combining both filters with AND:

- Suspended accounts were correctly excluded

- However, the specific account was still included in the general backup job

Additional ConfigurationFor the premium account, we created a separate filter:

- Include → specific account by cPanel username

This works correctly for the dedicated 30-day backup job.

Current Issue

At the moment, the premium account is being backed up by both jobs:

- The general backup job (2-day retention)

- The dedicated backup job (30-day retention)

This results in duplicate backups, which is not the desired behavior.

Additionally, when using OR, suspended accounts are also incorrectly included in the backup.

Questions

  1. Is this expected behavior when combining multiple Account Filters with OR and AND?
  2. What is the recommended way to use correct de filters.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,
