More Flexible Retention or Scheduling Options - Daily/Weekly/Monthly In Same Job?
Completed
It is pretty common in the IT industry to have retention policies like... do a daily backup and retain a week's worth, but do a weekly backup and retain one month (or 4 weeks worth) in case there was something that was deleted way back that you need to restore.
As it stands now, the only way to pull this off is to create two separate backup jobs. This means you'll have a lot of unnecessary duplicated backup data because from what I understand, the jobs are completely isolated and don't use each other's incremental backups even if the backup types and accounts are identical.
So it would be very useful to have a way to say backup the accounts daily saving a week's worth of daily's but keep 4 weeklys. Etc. etc.
