Optional backup of symbolic links.
Completed
At the moment symlinks that point beyond the copied tree are not backed up. All
absolute symlinks are also ignored. When restoring files from a backup copy, it is very important for the site to work correctly to restore symbolic links. This is true for sites written in Python when using virtualenv. Also for CMS Bitrix.
Please consider the possibility of creating an option for a backup copy including symlinks.
Hi,
Thank you for submitting this request,
Currently, Symbolik links are prevented due to security issues.
Although, after deep research of all aspects in general and the security aspect in particular, we will consider allowing using symlinks on JetBackup 4.1 and other JetApps products.

Hello,
We are excited to announce the release of JetBackup 5 to the STABLE Tier! JetBackup 5 is our fastest, most secure, versatile, and reliable version yet! Please Note: JetBackup 5 utilizes a new JetBackup Core and introduces a new Backup Structure and Engine.
This new and improved Backup Structure and Engine is now capable of allowing the backups and restores of all symbolic links! Currently, the only destinations that utilize the new Backup Structure and Backup Engine are S3 Compatible destinations. The initial STABLE release will include Rsync-based Destinations (Local and SSH) while S3 compatible destinations will remain available under the "Experimental" Feature. You can find more information on S3 Compatible destinations in our documentation at https://docs.jetbackup.com/v5.1/adminpanel/Destinations/DestinationType/S3.html#s3destination.
Some other benefits of the new JetBackup Core and Structure include the following:
- Allows the flexibility to support multiple panels and operating systems, and be platform-agnostic
- More granular control over backups and restores.
- Ability to restore your account across multiple platforms and control panels.
- Better backup performance and efficiency improvements.
We thank you for your patience and hope to hear your feedback regarding this feature!
Thank you,
Richard, JetApps Team
