1+ for this feature request.

Please do this.

Would really like to see an integration with JetBackups for DirectAdmin

photo
2

I really need this

photo
2

will help a lot if I do the jetbackup for DirectAdmin, I already use it in cPanel, but I will leave the cpanel because of the new prices and migrate to directadmin.I support the design for the new panel!

Hi All,

Just a follow up to update that we've started to evaluate the process of creating JetBackup for DA.

We will update here accordingly.

photo
3

Perfect. I am a subscriber to cPanel. But as I'm moving to DirectAdmin, we need it urgently. You can be sure that many will need it.

photo
2

we all need it ASAP!

photo
2

Can't wait! I've been waiting for this forever. 👌

photo
2

Support that!

waiting for next update

Waiting for an update

Waiting!!

Most cPanel clients will migrate to directadmin and it will be nice to have jetbackup for them.I support the development and I guarantee you will have many looking!

photo
2

I also support the feature. hope the good news is coming from JetApps. :)

photo

Hey folks from Jetapps, people from everywhere in the world (single customers as also many whole network centers with many 1000s of customers/licenses) are right now changing from cPanel/WHM to DirectAdmin because of the last cPanel/WHM price changes (200% - 800%) ! - Dear JetApp stuff, this is the time, this is your time to jump in and patch the hole with the not so userfriendly backup feature in DirectAdmin. You maybe not will get a lot of the end customers, but you may can get the whole stuff, the network centers, if you do it now! If you follow the DA boards, there are maybe 3-4 people which could help you with their knowledge, experience and are programmers in DA too, Martynas (programming DA custombuild), Andrea (not having much time since he have full time job), and - my recommendation - Alex, alias Poralix (https://www.poralix.com/) .. i dont make advertisment here, i didnt told him my posting here, its just my personal recommendation - do it together, be faster together, and take the money from all the people leaving cPanel/WHM with need of a userfriendly backup solution as it is yours. .. just my 2 cents ..

photo
2

Hi, I strongly support this software, we will drop all cpanel...

I have about 400 cpanels.

photo
3

after what cpanel did ITS A MUST

photo
2

Definitely, work on a DA version, seems it is going to have a flood of customers! :)

photo
2

Please urgent.

photo
3

Any updates on if/when?

photo
2

Definitely keen on this. Been using JetBackup for years on cPanel systems. But I cannot tolerate the >400% increase they are trying to ram where the sun don't shine. It would be a huge asset for DirectAdmin users.

photo
2

This need to be done ASAP, moving all my cPanel servers to DirectAdmin (due to price increase) and I need to use JetBackup as well

photo
3

Mega Provedor migrate 300 servers in Brazil from cPanel to DirectAdmin

photo
3

Our company will soon migrate to DirectAdmin, please create a system for directdmin as soon as possible to continue buying the 54 jetbackup licenses we handle ...

photo
2

Will be migrating from cPanel to DirectAdmin and would love to keep using Jetbackup +1 from me!

photo
2

We have near 15 Jetbackup licenses, and adding more, but from 1 more month we will start issuing DirectAdmin nodes, not Cpanel, please create jetbackup addon for directadmin

photo
2

Stand alone version works ? https://www.jetbackup.com/jetbackup-for-linux/ Anyone tried it ?

photo
1

They said on Facebook that it would need to be each user manually set up, I don't know how hard would it be to getting it to work

photo
1

Then I assume Stand Alone + a DA plugin with the proper hooks per server will do the job. (hopefully...)

photo
1

Hopefully.. they claimed it will take 6-9 months for a DA plugin, which I found a lot of time since a lot of people are migrating on September, if someone comes with a plugin first they may loose a lot of customers. DA is also working on improving their own backup system

Hi All,

Just a follow up to update on our progress and roadmap ahead...

As you may have noted, "JetBackup for Linux" was just released. This will be used as a basic foundation for other control panel implementation.

Our next step will be to design the core & tools for "Control panel implementation" (any control panel), and right after we will push DirectAdmin official support.

Stay tuned! :)

photo
1

Excited to see this feature is in progress!

photo
1

It is very important for us we are migrating to DirectAdmin and we need this solution soon!

photo
1

We are eagerly waiting for DirectAdmin support. It will be great if you can launch this or make it available as soon as possible. Thank you!

photo
1

is there a guide on using the linux version with DirectAdmin?

photo
1

The current Linux version was not designed to run alongside with a control panel, it will be best to patiently wait for our official release :)

photo
1

Kindly update ASAP. As you are aware of the price update from September 2019. Before that, we need to migrate from CPanel to DirectAdmin

photo
1

waiting for it too! i need it also

photo
1

Yep, registered to voice my positive vibe of how needed JetApps are for DA. Really want to continue with this JetApps and JetBackup.

photo
photo
1

My CP server has been using jetbackup, and due to cost issues, I will have to switch to directadmin.

It’s even better if jetbackup can automatically restore cPanel data to directadmin.

photo
1

Just my two cents this needs to be developed ASAP if you want to benefit. Sometime in the future will not work for people hosting sites, we can not go without backups for a week never mind until "Some time in the future"

There will be hundreds of thousands of servers (if not millions) moving to DA so by extension that means they stop paying for your Cpanel plugin.

This one needs to be quick.

photo
1

Man, thats so true. I offered them already contact to a dedicated DA professional, no reaction. In the meantime this means for a lot of us .. back 2 the roots .. rsync .. https://www.howtogeek.com/427480/how-to-back-up-your-linux-system/

photo
2

They lost me as a client found a much better already existing plugin for DA. As is often the case big companies take too long to respond in situations like this. Can not wait for their roadmap, my clients need stable backups.

photo
1

Hi Gary,

Thank you for the feedback. As a small company, we are working hard on several major projects to meet the needs of our user base. DirectAdmin support is one of multiple highly requested features - we are working to support DirectAdmin and other control panels universally. This will not only allow us to integrate and release official support for 3rd party control panels much quicker, but also let our community create their own control panel plugins.

Adding support for 3rd party integration is not a quick process and a rushed implementation could create more issues than it solves for our users. Data protection and security remain our top priorities, and this requires careful consideration with all new features.

Best Regards,

JetApps Team.

any eta about releasing jetbackup for da?

We will drop cPanel as well in September for Directadmin in most servers.

any news regards jetbackup for directadmin? its been 2 months

photo
2

Lol there are better alternatives but they just edited my post above. Seems they would rather leave you without backups than get on and create a solution.

photo
1

Agreed, we do need solid backups. I also found the other solution really useful. Thanks to your post.... Too long to wait for me as busy migrating all clients.

photo
1

@Gary You were mentioning their competition. It was evident that they were going to remove your comment. I doubt you wouldn't do the same if it were your business. :)

Thus, it's not like it's a long-term solution when compared to the remarkable features jetbackups has. The alternatives out there - even the one you presented is just temporary while Jetbackup is not available for Directadmin.

Nonetheless, it is a lesson for any company developing plugins for a specific product. It's always better to create a product non-dependent on any other third-party and only then develop a plugin for it.

photo
1

I was merely offering a current alternative nothing to stop anyone switching back to Jet when it is ready. No ETA sometime in the future is no help to those of us hosting client sites. Were it my business I probably WOULD offer an alternative until my solution were ready, it would create much better will than "We don't know when it will be ready"

photo
1

@Gary - I tried to contact you on FB, please share your info with me, thank you!

photo
1

@Gary Well, considering you are - most likely - helping your own competitors when you suggested that alternative, I actually don't doubt you would. I suppose you are one of the few good people out there showing that money is not everything. =)

photo
1

Trust me if it meant my clients were without reliable, easily restorable backups I would find them an alternative.

+1 for this feature request.

An Alpha/Beta ETA would be great so we can test now that we have "fresh" or new / testing systems and report back.

Hi All,

We have reevaluated our timeframe for JetBackup for DirectAdmin after about a month of development;our team's current estimate for release to EDGE tier is about 4-6 months.

With our current roadmap, that includes implementing the core and tools needed for 3rd-party integration with JetBackup, then pushing our official DirectAdmin support to the EDGE version.

Thank you for everyone's feedback and continued support for JetBackup.

Please stay tuned for future updates!

Best Regards,
JetApps Team.

photo
3

4-6 months? people need this solution ASAP because of cpanel move...

photo
1

Well, you just lost a client here , and an advocate for your business. I’ll make sure to switch clients off of your software as well , ASAP

You have had AMPLE time to get your heads out of your tail ends and get this done . Instead, you chose to ignore things , pushing garbage like bare Linux and cPanel updates out first. This shows your lack of priorities here

Like every other piece of Jetappa software, this will be abandonware, just watch

photo
photo
1

Glad I sorted something else. 4-6 months? Wow!

photo
1

Hi, I called on Messenger. :)

photo
photo
3

I have to agree with the sentiment here. Seriously????!?!?!?!? 4-6 months is a pretty horrible timeframe.I get that development takes time, but this should have been started on months ago, and yes it shouldn't be THAT hard to do (coming from someone who actually develops things).

You just lost a good chunk of business with this model of "we will do it when we feel like it". Your customers need proper backups, and you failed them.

photo
1

Yeah im in the same boat as alot of you I am getting ready to leave Cpanel. Honestly not been impressed with Cpanel for many years. the buyout from another company reminds me of the way EIG been working. Anyways I am to moving to direct admin.

photo
2

You can look me up on FB Paul if you need help

photo
2

Well I am never going to turn down someone offering their advice and help. Which I always in turn might know something i can help you with as well.

I search your name in FB though and cant seem to find you. Saw 4 people with that name, but none that look like the picture I see here. Ill see if I can PM you here.

edit

OOPS I missed the see more option, I found you and added you.

I support this feature. I hope you released beta asap.warm regards

I'd like to add that we're very excited with the progress on this integration. The JetBackup dev team has been working diligently with us to offer a highly integrated solution using our API. This method offers many many benefits, including being "future proof" for any back-end changes or optional variances DA might have, rather than trying to manage files directly in the back-end. I'm glad the decision was made to go this route, although it is the harder solution to implement, it's definitely the correct one, and the benefits of doing it the "right way" will definitely pay off in the future. For example, the simple act of adding an email account can vary wildly, including mirroring it to a remote box, so things like that must go through the API anyway. This will be a very exciting add on module for any DirectAdmin server!

Hi,

Just a follow up to update we are "almost there" :)

Attaching some screenshots from our latest build, just for you to get the looks & feels :)

First public ALPHA is expected end of Q1 this year, we will then probably will need some feedback from the community.

Thank you for your patience for far!

photo

Too little, too late... You cannot expect your clients to just simply go without backups for a year because you cannot properly prioritize things.

Just think of what would have happened if you had a PROPER development team and schedule in place. 3 months, TOPS , from cPanel's announcement, you would have had this running.

Instead? You just effectively forced all your clients to look elsewhere for alternatives

photo
1

I can't understand why people are getting so upset with the JetApps team for wanting to take their time and get the work out correctly - development isn't a click your fingers and you have a production-ready bit of kit.

@Tom Whiting if you are unhappy with the progress then just go find something else, you don't have to throw your toys out of the pram because a company wants to develop THEIR product the way THEY want. Also, I can tell you haven't worked with/for a development company - if JetApps work in an Agile development flow this would have had to go through a number of processes before the developers even started development (it's called planning and thinking about what is going to be built). Also, it's a lot more work to say stop everything, build this because it is now the priority.

People should be thanking JetApps that they are doing a DirectAdmin integration in the first place, not moaning that it is taking them longer than they hoped. People that are not happy that DirectAdmin doesn't come with such advanced backup services or software companies didn't support DirectAdmin at the time should have thought about that when they decided to use DirectAdmin.

Rant over, nice work JetApps team - looking forward to hearing how the Alpha tests progress!

photo
1

"you haven't worked with/for a development company"

Try again. This is how I make my living. While it does take a bit of time to do updates and stuff, this has been handled 100% unprofessionally, since the beginning... 3-6 months is what it would take to get a properly developed system cloned for another environment, and released to STABLE.

"People should be thanking JetApps"

Yeah, right... For what? Ignoring this request until the last possible moment? For lying about giving this request "priority" ? Sorry, but no... If they wanted 'thanks', they probably should have gotten on the ball MONTHS before they actually did, instead of doing everything else first.

JA has abandoned their clients here. It's going to be even worse in the next year or so. Just watch

photo
3

Sounds like you need a snickers tbh Tom.

photo
3

@Tom Whiting - By the sounds of your reply, I can see 2 points which I still disagree with (my view - but I want to give some defense in this chain to JA):

  1. "Ignoring this request until the last possible moment" - It's a feature request - what would you have done if they just said, "No, we have no interest in supporting DA"? They can handle feature requests anyway they want, again it is their product, not yours. You don't get to decide what they do, you can request and hope they build what you want but at the end of the day they have to factor in more things!
  2. OK, this point "3-6 months is what it would take to get a properly developed system cloned for another environment, and released to STABLE." let's take that and look at possible timelines for the JA business/ops/devs/QAs tasks etc in steps:

  1. cPanel announces the price changes and the industry reacts (of course) and JetApps are likely saying wow that is a big change
  2. 10 months ago they say they want to work on a standalone and/or DirectAdmin product to take their service further. Quote from JA: It is Under consideration to create a StandAlone and/or DirectAdmin backup solution.
  3. QUESTION TIME: How long do you think this should take?
    Things to consider:
    - Planning a new product
    - Taking bits from the cPanel product but of course, this new product won't have the basics of a service such as cPanel to be built on
    - A testing time for each feature (then into Alpha, Beta etc)
    - Needs to be as reliable as the cPanel product as this will be the core of future systems
    - Still need to do all the BAU work to support the cPanel client base
  4. The building is complete of the standalone product which they wanted to help produce future integrations
  5. So just going based on this feature request: Six months ago we can presume they are working on ensuring the standalone product was all good and fixing any bugs, etc, etc.
  6. Starting the work on DA integration and being able to use the features from the standalone system
    Again things to consider:
    - Getting in contact with DA team (seeing DA was working hard after everything I don't think they would be available straight away to help a 3rd party to integrate - I might be wrong but DA is a small team with a lot going on)
    - Planning (always lots of planning)
  7. Alpha testing, after around 6 months of developing, testing a critical system that if done wrong could ruin their reputation more than ignoring requests for updates on the progress.

The above is A LOT for a company to do, I don't know how many staff JA have but I doubt it is a huge team!

You say you are a developer, then build your own backup service if you think it shouldn't take long. I am a tech lead and I know I would quote a min of 6 months before any public/final QA e2e testing - I prefer to build stable and reliable services that I know won't cause me more headache than it needs to.

I understand why people may be pushing for it but the comments people are making shows lack of knowledge of these sorts of systems and processes.

photo
2

I'm excited for this. I'm currently using another plugin option but will be looking to switch when this is finally available.

Will it create automatic backups when a new user is added?

photo
1

Game changer and Voted!

Oh..and Tom Definitely needs a snickers lol

photo
1

Still waiting :P

photo
2

Hi John Cook, Sorry for the late response, your response has slipped us.

Currently, if settings a non filteres accounts backup job, new accounts/users will be automatically added to the backup job.

This most likely will be supported as well on the Directadmin panel.

Thank you.

Just an observation. I've been checking here weekly in anticipation for an exciting announcement. It's now the end of Q3 and still no word on progress or a date for about two months.

Can we expect anything amazing in the next week?

John,

Everything is wrapped up and ready for ALPHA testing! Sorry for the slight delay.

We are currently doing internal QA round between our techs & staff members.

If everything goes as planned, we should release PUBLIC ALPHA within two weeks (somewhere between the 29.3 - 1.4)

Hey guys,

Just to clarify, JetApps (JetBackup) is a completely separate corporation.

We have no interest in selling JetApps (JetBackup) as our journey has just begun!

Right now we are focused on expanding our development of JetBackup across multiple control panel platforms including cPanel, Plesk, and DirectAdmin along with standalone Linux operating systems.

With so many amazing features on our current development road map, departing from JetApps is not in our best interest

Thank You,

JetApps Team.

I have the same blank issue... I sent an email to support, but waiting on a reply.

I wonder if it will work on Centos 8 as well?? since it is pretty much the new standard for DA.

photo

Thanks for the feedback guys, seems like a skin issue, have you tried with evolution skin?

We will review the ticket now

(doesn't work with centos 8 yet BTW)

It's indeed revolution skin.

tried standard theme..... icon theme, dark mode disabled / auto

Hi,

We believe this is some kind of JS error, however, were not able to replicate on our side (I am still trying to reproduce).

So, just to clarify, it's indeed working with the evolution skin, but doesn't work with the old one?

Thanks,

Eli.

Hi Daniel,

Just to clarify, JetBackup generates its own key to authenticate with your SSH destination. In your case, please execute the following command:

If you encounter any issues or bugs during your testing, please don't hesitate to open a ticket and reach out to us at support@jetapps.com so that our developers could further investigate and resolve your issue as soon as possible.

What backup options are available? I was going to use Wasabi S3 but can't see that option. OVH also have FTP backup storage with each server but I can't see an FTP option either

photo

Hi John,

Thank you for trying out JetBackup for DirectAdmin under our initial alpha release!

We are still testing the core functionality of JetBackup and provided Local and SSH destinations with our initial release knowing that we have a lot to implement as we continue development for JetBackup for DirectAdmin which includes additional backup destinations, incremental object storage support, and releasing tools for the community to create custom destinations and plugins for JetBackup.

Thank You,

JetAppsAnton

photo

thank you, you have released jetbackup for directadmin.

I didn't migrate to directadmin because wait jetbackup for directadmin.

I will test this plugin asap.

Warm regards

I hope it support s3 compatible storage. AWS too far Viet Nam. I want backup in Viet Nam location.

photo

What about CloudLinux?

Dou you plan to support it? CloudLinux is based on CentOS https://www.cloudlinux.com/

photo
1

Hi Сервисный Отдел,

Yes Jetbackup will work on Cloudlinux 7 as it based on CentOS as you've mentioned. With that said, I also would like to clarify that CloudLinux specific integrations like LVE will be implemented on a later stage.

Highest Regards,

Anton, JetApps Team.

photo
1

Do you know when you will support CloudLinux/CentOS 8? We just deployed a new server running CloudLinux 8 and were disappointed to find that we could not test this release. We are willing to alpha test JetBackup for CloudLinux 8 and DirectAdmin.

photo
2

Hi Kevin Cackler,

We plan to add support to CentOS 8 support next, then Debian and Ubuntu are to follow. However, it is still early to tell when exactly this will be implemented as our team is currently focusing development on JetBackup for DirectAdmin reaching STABLE.

Please stay tuned for future announcements regarding updates on JetBackup for DirectAdmin releases and thank you for your continued interest and support of JetBackup.

Kind Regards,

Anton, JetApps Team.

photo

i agree with you jetbackup team.

i think you should focus on jetbackup for directadmin reaching STABLE. i think the best solution is use cloudlinux 7 Hybrid currently.

Hello,

is it possible to restore jetbackup files with cpanel to jetbackup with directadmin?

migrate cpanel to directadmin need long time, i hope it can be more simple with jetbackup.

photo
2

Hi dion adi,

Unfortunately, you cannot restore a JetBackup for cPanel backup over DirectAdmin as it uses a different backup structure from the current version of JetBackup for cPanel. Please don't hesitate to create a feature request If this is something you would like to be considered implemented on a future release of JetBackup!

Thank You,

Anton, JetApps Team.

We've been using this for several months in parallel with the DirectAdmin backup system and so far it has been working great!

Any word on when this is going to move to Beta and even Stable?

Thanks!

Hello HostMantis,

We're pleased to hear that JetBackup 5 for DirectAdmin is working well for you!

We are still working to add and implement several major features into the EDGE version before moving JetBackup 5 for DirectAdmin into a BETA/STABLE tier.

Based on our current development roadmap, we're anticipating STABLE in 6-9 months while we develop several multi-faceted feature milestones for our new, faster core. These milestones include universal S3 destination support, Incremental on Object Storage, JetBackup 4 to JetBackup 5 migration tools, plugin capabilities, and expanded cross-compatibility for many popular hosting environments!

Best Regards,

Clark, JetApps Team.

Guys,

I'm trying not to be rude but you started this plugin more than a year ago and all you came up is an alpha version that is not usable on a production enviroment. Now you are letting us know that it might take another 9 months to get to stable which finally will be likely 2 years since the official announcement. The way you are handling the development of the DA plugin is a huge dissapointment (and shame) and I fail to see why have you even embarked on this quest is you are not willing or can't allocate the necessary resources to have a functional software in a decent amount of time.

I know it is a good PR to be involved in projects that have increased visibility like DA, but only if you manage to produce something useful, in a decent amount of time. While I'm not trying to minimize your work, many decent size software companies would be able to produce a similar function software from ground-up in a 2 year time-frame so I can't say I see anything to be proud of in porting your own software to a different control panel in a 2 year time frame.

Thank you,

Hello Adrian,

Thank you for expressing your concerns.

We are laying the groundwork for a major evolution in the product. Adding DirectAdmin compatibility to JetBackup will satisfy the niche user base, and while it is important to us, it is nested within several larger priorities and product milestones. Our devs have been hard at work creating a new Backup Engine that improves the overall performance of JetBackup. This allows us to support several control panels and required a rewrite from the ground up, rather than just porting it over. As far as our current iteration of JetBackup 5 (5.0.x), it is far more stable than it's EDGE label suggests, and we will be pushing it to BETA in the next quarter as we roll out the new engine in ALPHA/EDGE tiers. We have had great feedback from our alpha testers and early adopters with our ALPHA and Public EDGE releases so far, which helped tremendously in JetBackup's development. We would like to continue to encourage the community to give JetBackup 5 a try as it helps our team identify bugs and release fixes much faster, which will ultimately help towards a quicker stable release version.

We want to mention that there is a notable amount of detail going on behind the scenes. We're a medium-sized company and have a well-defined set of criteria for a version to be released into the stable tier, as people are trusting us with the integrity of their data. This includes a security testing on each major version, a minimum of one minor release at the beginning of each month, a full QA testing cycle with necessary bug fixes, and live use on our internal system. We strive for transparency in our development process, use our request system and engagements with the community to guide our development, and support our product with 24/7 support. All of these elements allow us to develop secure, reliable, and cutting-edge backup technology for the web hosting industry.

To have a more incremental approach to our development cycle and provide an earlier release, we're going to release an earlier BETA that encompasses rigorously tested features, while keeping other/future features on EDGE.

If there are additional features we are missing that you would like to see, we highly encourage putting in a request so that it can be voted on and percolate to the top of our development priorities.

We greatly appreciate feedback, and are always looking for ways we can improve.

Thank you,

JetApps Team

Hi,

Does this include Sync to another Direct Admin Server option?

Thanks

Hi Shehan Manuja,

Thank you for your interest in JetBackup for DirectAdmin. Syncing accounts across DA servers are not yet included/implemented on the current version of JetBackup for DirectAdmin.

With that said, our developers are in the early stages of redesigning the implementation of the "Clone Jobs" feature (for those who are familiar with the feature on JetBackup for cPanel (v4.x) ) on JetBackup 5 (new Core which JetBackup for DirectAdmin is based) which will not only let you sync accounts between servers on the same panel/platform but also allow you to sync across multiple platforms via JetBackup 5.

Please stay tuned for future announcements regarding updates on JetBackup for DirectAdmin releases and thank you for your continued support of JetBackup.

Best Regards,

Anton, JetApps Team.
